Resting during siege[]

Has anyone been in a castle while it has been sieged by an enemy? Are you trapped in the castle, seeing as AI's are when their castles is sieged.

The AI's are only "trapped" in that they are afraid to leave as they lose the protection of the fortification if they do. They can and do occasionally abandon the location during sieges if there is no hope and they think their chances are better making a run for it. If one of my castles is under siege, I usually try to inside it rather than flee. Even if you have a tiny army of your own, and you are vastly outnumbered, your mere presence greatly increases the chance of a successful defense. In certain locations where the enemy is especially bottlenecked, you can fairly easily defend against a force three or four times the number of your own troops. In answer to your question though, no, you are not trapped unless one of the armies besieging the fortification breaks off to pursue you, which happened very often in Mount&Blade, but significantly less often in Warband.

I was just curious. I had experienced beaten a siege through staggering odds but I joined that one. I would've thought that hostile forces would've surrounded the casle, considering they have to power to starve the inhabitants also.

Starvation During Sieges[]

Has anyone successfully starved out a garrison?  Am I missing something?  From what I have seen, waiting out food supplies just applies a one time health hit to defenders. While potentially helpful, this is hardly a decisive advantage.69.253.29.183 22:15, January 24, 2016 (UTC)

I have never actually tried waiting it out as I consider it not worth the time investment even if they surrendered. But if all it does is injure them, it is even less useful.
