The Iltanlar were the mountain-dwelling cousins of the plains-dwelling Khuzait tribes. The Iltanlar referred to their leaders as "beys." The name of the tribe is derived from the name of one of the steppe peoples' gods, but it is unclear if the Iltanlar took their name from the god or from Mount Iltan which they settled near.

Lore[]

Centuries ago, the Iltanlar descended from the Sulan Dag Mountains and near the Portages of Iltan where they built a fortress which would eventually be known as Baltakhand. During the age of the Calradic Empire's eastward expansion, the Iltanlar were protected by the harsh winter climate, but this defense would not be sufficient when Khan Urkhun arrived with his horde.

Forty years before the Calradian Civil War, the Khuzait Khanate pushed the Empire's eastern holdings back and amidst this campaign, any remaining Iltanlar in Baltakhand submitted to Urkhun's rule.[1]
