Mount & Blade Wiki
Forums: Index > Wiki Talk > Lords

Currently this wiki has all articles on vassals using the title "Lord" as was done in the original Mount&Blade. However, Mount&Blade: Warband changed the titles for most of them. It is my personal opinion that the later game supersedes the earlier in any conflict. As such, I think all articles should be renamed to the Warband names and redirects created for their Mount&Blade names.

Renaming all the vassals' pages will be quite time consuming, not to mention switching over all the links to them as well. Nevertheless, I think it should be done and do not object to doing all the work myself. However, I am open to discuss this before I start changing everything.

If anyone has objections to using the Warband titles, or rationales as to leave the articles as they currently are, speak now. I will not start moving pages for at least one week to allow time for any arguments to be presented first. Final judgment may be made at that time. ◄► Tephra ◄► 22:53, February 7, 2012 (UTC)

If there's a page for one of them and a redirect for the other then I don't care which one is the page and which one is the redirect. (they use the title Lord when they join the player-created faction)
In Warband most titles are before the name, but for Khergit Khanate (Noyan) it's after the name.
Maybe we could use just the name without the title and make the redirects optional (and recommended)? That way the DEFAULTSORT directive is no longer needed. We can differentiate the title in the infobox. For Lord Meriga it would be:
Lord
Boyar
What happens to the king of a defeated faction? Does it join another faction and if so does his title change? (I haven't exterminated a faction before)
For npcs that don't change title the page would include the title?
Might as well throw another wild idea to the mix... how about using the NPC namespace? (NPC:PAGENAME)
I don't have experience creating namespaces in wikia so I'm not sure of it's capabilities here.

"Maybe we could use just the name without the title"
That's not a bad idea actually... I didn't think of that. And it certainly wouldn't be a difficult task to add titles to their templates, as you suggest. As for namespaces, I have not dealt with them much either, but I don't really like them except in extreme cases, like the games themselves, e.g. With Fire & Sword:*** (I considered using them for With Fire & Sword, but didn't).
Anyway, I hope some other people come by for some input on this as well. ◄► Tephra ◄► 01:29, February 8, 2012 (UTC)
