I think it is time for some article pruning on the wiki tree.
The primary example (but not only culprit) is Melee weapons. It has a full list of all melee weapons, however the One-handed weapons, Two-handed weapons, Two-handed One-handed weapons, Polearms, and Polearm Two-handed weapons articles duplicate the lists, including the weapon Modifiers table while adding very little, if anything, in a brief introduction.
There are three options I am considering:
- Make all sub-articles into redirects back to the corresponding sections on the primary list article.
+ This will make browsing far easier and crop out redundancy.
– It will make the lone article very long as it must include the information from all the smaller pages. - Remove the lists from the primary article and only leave links to the smaller list articles.
+ This will allow the individual articles to contain more information without needing to keep it short.
– It will make navigation more complicated and reduce the base article to no more than a short list of links. - Basically leave it the way it is except make the sections on the full list transcluded from the individual lists.
+ This will allow someone to browse either the full list, or individual pages.
– It will not eliminate redundancy and transcluded articles are annoying to edit.
I would like some feedback on which course of action is the best option, personally, I prefer #1. ◄► Tephra ◄► 17:27, April 19, 2012 (UTC)
