Detailed Walkthrough[]

This quest - more than any other - can be difficult to assess value-wise. Let's say that you are sufficiently high on the leaderboards (see the Arena Master) that the quest giver will at least offer you the job, but you are still receiving significant profits when you bet at a tournament. This job could very well be a waste of your time, because if you can fix a tournament, you can win a tournament and you will earn far more denars - along with generally exceptional equipment and mounts - with the latter method than the former. However, at some point, your standing in the leaderboard will be so high that you only earn a pittance of profit from your betting (It can be as low as 160 denars). In that case, 250 denars (the stipend you receive from playing along with the gang leader) is actually comparable to the denars you would receive from betting anyway and you can carefully game the roster such that one of your companions will likely win the tournament, earning you the ultimate prize regardless. This, combined with the possible option of turning on your handlers in the final hour can lead to quite a rewarding adventure in vice!

Notes[]

  • By default, the player will ultimate earn 1250 denars over the course of five tournaments. They will also receive the proceeds of any bets they make when they do win, along with the ultimate prize when they or one of their companions wins.
  • At no point does the player earn any crime rating or lose any relation as a direct result of their match fixing. Their activities always go unnoticed by the public and the only exception is the possible intervention of a Town notable right before their fifth and final tournament.
  • As one may imagine, taking the quest Lady's Knight Out while working on this quest is not a great idea. That said, if you fully intend to go rogue in the final hour, it certainly can't hurt to pick up the former and make the most of it.
