Arzagos is a campaign character that gives several quests in the Dragon Banner questline. He can be found in the town of Marunath. He is diametrically opposed by Istiana, another campaign character that plots to have the player restore the Calradic Empire to its former glory.
Lore[]
Arzagos was Emperor Drosios Neretzes' bodyguard and participated in the Battle of Pendraic in the year 1077. The events of the battle changed him and he thenceforth began to work against the Empire. Arzagos blames the Empire's assimilation of conquered cultures for the loss of his own ancestral Palaic culture and language.
Through the narrative quests, he attempts to guide the player down a path that will ultimately ensure the Empire dies and remains dead. If the player instead chooses to unite the Empire once again, Arzagos will actively plot their downfall.

- The Palaics may have been inspired by the Etruscans.
- They were a people conquered by the Calradic Empire just like the Etruscans by the Roman Empire.
- Their exonym was given to them by the Calradians just like the Etruscans were given theirs ("Etruscii") by the Romans.
- Unlike the Rasenna (Etruscans), the Palaics have forgotten their own endonym due to the Calradic Empire's penchant nature of destruction of other languages and cultures.
