Agathinos is one of the heroes in Viking Conquest. He is a Byzantine Christian.

In both the sandbox mode and the campaign mode, he is free to hire. In the campaign mode, he can be found near Hordaland when trying to find the transcripted scroll. In the sandbox mode, he can be found in a random town.

Tactics

With his high intelligence of 18 at the start, Agathinos can become a great support unit for the party and he can get 10 in all intelligence skills as early as level 16. He starts with the highest score for engineering, tactics and weapon maintenance for any companion and can be developed into a good navigator and expert tracker. If necessary, he can become a good healing unit, but that will take a lot of skill points to be invested before he is better than the likes of Asbjorn.

Combat isn't his strongest suit due to his low strength and agility, but he can become a decent crossbowman since the amount of a damage dealt by crossbow does not depend on strength, unlike archers who wield any longbow.

Story

"Well let me tell you, I'm an engineer who specializes in the art of fortification. If you need a wall knocked down, I can do that, given enough time. If you need a wall built back up, I can do that too -- although it will take a bit longer and cost you more."

"I am also an unfortunate man. I am originally from Konstantinoupolis, far away from here... Maybe you have heard of it. The Varangians call it Mikligard. A few years ago, a group of them kidnapped me and brought me here, to the far north. They made me a slave and sold me to the jarl of Hordaland. I worked for him until a few days ago, when I finally earned enough money to buy my freedom."

"But after all the years that have passed since I was taken from Konstantinoupolis, I planned simply to stay in the home of the jarl. The truth is that I had formed a relationship with his son. The jarl did not like that and kicked me out."

"So what say you? I see you can lead warriors. If you let me join you, I can help when you have a siege."
